What we do
Delivering expert innovation services to NHS Scotland
A robust process identifies innovations that will best improve patient care
On average around one hundred ideas are submitted to SHIL each year from healthcare professionals. These can range from simple but really effective devices through to complex and technical ideas. These ideas and innovations originate from different health boards, different medical disciplines and can be at varying stages of development.
To accelerate the evaluation process, and ensure ideas and innovations submitted are well-considered and presented, we recommend reviewing SHIL selection criteria. Innovation Managers at SHIL, responsible for evaluating all submitted ideas for technical and commercial feasibility, use this same criterion in considering which innovations to investigate further.
