Scottish Health Innovations Ltd. (SHIL) are delighted to announce sponsorship of two hackathon weekends by Product Forge; the organisation that brings together developers, creatives and entrepreneurs to build new products that solve real world problems.

In a new approach to solving healthcare challenges, Product Forge have introduced hackathons with a twist: they develop teams and products that tackle society's hardest challenges. Participants use design thinking and digital technology to rapidly prototype their ideas, with support from mentors who have real world commercial experience.

Participants are taken through an intensive process of team formation, ideation, storyboarding,

Prototyping, and presentation practice over three days in a venue that remains open 24 hours.

Successful events have already taken place with the Data Lab and NHS National Services Scotland, and SHIL are delighted to be involved and support collaboration across the Scottish healthcare innovation ecosystem. From Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th November, teams will come together for the Medical Visualisation hackathon at Codebase HQ in Edinburgh. Sponsored by SHIL alongside Toshiba Medical Visualization Systems Europe and featuring Professor Chris Oliver on the judging panel, the focus will be on projects or collaborations that utilise innovations in medical visualisation to deliver improved clinical pathways and precision medicine. You can read more about this event, and find a link to registration, on our events page.

Following this, Public Health will take place from 25th – 28th January 2018 in partnership with NHS NSS Public Health Intelligence and Information Services Division.

Entrepreneurially minded data scientists and analysts, clinicians, designers, and software engineers will come together to develop data focused projects to improve Public Health in the NHS in Scotland. Stay up to date with event plans via the Product Forge website.

David Brand, SHIL Business Development Manager, commented: “Product Forge is an organisation which brings together disparate individuals and organisations to solve specific problems in an innovative way. Creating the right environments to support innovation and accelerating the development of concepts and prototypes to improve patient care is central to our work at SHIL, so we are delighted to sponsor this event and believe this collaborative approach to solving real world challenges will have multiple benefits for all involved.”

Allan Lloyds, founder & managing director at Product Forge, added: “Product Forge is delighted to welcome Scottish Health Innovations Ltd as a sponsor to strive towards a brighter future in health innovation.”
