New Specs ease phantom limb pain
The problem of amputees suffering phantom pain is being addressed by Scottish scientists who have developed glasses that trick the patient into thinking their severed limb is still in place.

Medalytix Ltd raises £2m in venture funding from International Investors
Medalytix today announced it has successfully raised £2m in venture funding to support the International sales and marketing of its ground-breaking iGradingTM product and build its pipeline of intellectual property. The fund-raising was led by Hotspur Capital Partners, who were joined by Corporación Empresarial ONCE, the business and venture arm of the Spanish National Organisation for the Blind and existing investors the Rising Stars Growth Fund (RSGF) and Merseyside Special Investment Fund (MSIF).
Grampian based Dr Alastair Cozens, has been awarded the 2009 Scottish Health Innovations Ltd (SHIL) Award for Best Innovation Originating from NHS Scotland. Dr Alastair Cozens from NHS Grampian won for his part in developing the iPAM-Intelligent, a pneumatically assisted movement therapy.
Scottish Innovators honoured at Life Sciences Awards Dinner
Some of Scotland's most groundbreaking scientists have been shortlisted for a prestigious award at the 2009 Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Annual Awards.
The three groups of nominees represent cutting edge research by medical professionals throughout Scotland. The winners of the 2009 Scottish Health Innovations Ltd (SHIL) Award for Best Innovation Originating from NHS Scotland will be announced at the Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Annual Dinner at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 5th February.
