Terms and Conditions for Healthcare Scientist Innovation Award |
- Closing date for Entries is 18.12.09
- No applications will be accepted after the deadline. SHIL, however, reserves the right to change the deadline.
- To qualify to enter the competition you must be resident in the United Kingdom and be 18 years old or over. You must not be an employee, an agent or a director of Scottish Health Innovations Limited (SHIL), their associated companies or subsidiaries or any member of any such person's family. SHIL reserves the right to verify the eligibility of applications.
- All entrants are deemed to have accepted the rules for the competition by submitting an idea. The rules include the terms and conditions and information in the flyer.
- All entries will be initially assessed by a panel from SHIL.
- By entering the competition, you hereby warrant that all the information submitted by you in your application is true to the best of your knowledge.
- A shortlist shall be drawn up from the entries. A presentation by the entrant will be assessed by a panel of experts to decide the winners.
- The prize is open to all Healthcare Scientists as defined in the following document (

- Joint / team entries will be accepted, however one team member must be named as the main contact and all other members must be individually named.
- In the event of joint entries, the lead entrant must be an NHS Scotland employee. Single entrants must be NHS employees.
- The same idea cannot be entered by more than one person in the project team.
- SHIL reserves the right to publish the winner’s name(s) in promotional material for the innovation award for this event and following events.
- SHIL reserve the right to amend, alter or cancel this promotion without prior notice.
- The judges’ decision is final and no discussion will be entered into on the decision of the Judges.
- The name of the winner and runners up will be available from SHIL after the closing date, on written application enclosing a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
- All ideas submitted will be treated as confidential by the panel.
- Winning and runner up entrants will receive a business development package worth up to £10,000. These funds will be managed by SHIL.
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost or delayed in transmission whether by email or otherwise. SHIL has no responsibility for damage or loss resulting from misdirected or incomplete entries arising from computable functions, virus, bugs or other causes outside its control.
- SHIL reserves the right to disqualify any applicant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the applicant has breached any of these terms and conditions.
- The winners may be requested to make themselves available for promotion or publicity of SHIL and shall make themselves reasonably available for such purposes.
- The competition and the terms and conditions of this agreement will be governed by Scots Law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
