The SHIL award for innovation aims to recognise and encourage innovation among Healthcare Scientists working in NHS Scotland.

All applications will be assessed on a regional basis before proceeding to the Scotland-wide stage to determine the best three scientific innovations. All entrants will receive expert advice on how to develop their idea further with the top three entrants receiving a share of up to £10,000 in business development support. In addition, the top three innovations in Scotland will also win personal cash prizes.

Innovative ideas are a vital part of improving the National Health Service in Scotland. Those working in the front line delivering patient care are in the best possible position to identify ways of improving that care with the additional benefit of increasing job satisfaction for staff.
